Poultry Feed

• Chicken feed: This is typically a combination of grains such as corn, wheat, sorghum and barley, plus soy, canola or bone meal or another protein source. It can include vitamins and minerals, such as D3, B12 and calcium, to foster healthier chickens all around. Blends can vary according to what ages and breeds they support and whether your birds are layers (used for egg production) or broilers (meat birds).
• Duck feed: Formulated to provide ducks with essential nutrients for growth and health, this often combines corn, oats, wheat or other grains, plus birdseed and soybean and fish meal for protein. Some mixes contain minerals such as phosphorus to support skeletal health.
• Goose feed: Because geese usually eat the roots, bulbs, leaves and seeds of both aquatic plants and terrestrial grains (i.e. grasses, agricultural grains and legumes), this can feature a mixture of these ingredients. Some feeds can even include berries, insects and invertebrates such as worms and snails.
• Pheasant feed: Pheasants are omnivorous, meaning they can eat both plants (including seeds, grains, leaves and berries) and animals (usually insects such as grasshoppers, caterpillars, spiders, ants and worms). Their feeds contain many of these ingredients for sustained energy and balanced nutrition.
• Turkey feed: These are often the balance of corn and soybean meal, vitamins and minerals turkeys need to prosper. Food for young birds (poults) is often high-protein to support their development, while feed for older ones is higher in calories to help them maintain their size. Some combos contain grit (sand or small pebbles) to help turkeys better use their gizzards when digesting food.
